Secret Shiba 2012

First and most importantly, we would like to say MERRY SHIBAMAS to all of our friends and their packs.

Today, we FINALLY got to open our Secret Shiba Shibamas pawsents. Look at all the pawsome gifties!

It all came stuffed in a cute tin box and also wrapped in super cute tissue paper. Mom made us wait patiently so that she could take a photo. She knows me best. I would of totally scurried off with a toy. ;-) We got purty collars too! Also, pumpkin and cheesy noms!!!

We found out our Secret Shiba is Rinji & Mika & their hoomans (@shiba_rinji)!! Thank you! We lub all of our pawsents very much! We got to nommin’ right away!

Big thanks to Yuki and Sakura, this year’s 2012 Secret Shiba pawsome coordinators, for putting this together and to all those that participated. <3

Barks and kisses,

Sumo (and Sofi)

Dailies 06.23.2012

Sofi’s been doing great! She is settling in comfortably with the pack. We had thunderstorms yesterday and she didn’t seem phased by the noise. She is still adjusting to walking around the city and not quite used to all the people, cars, and loud noise. Although, she is great on the leash when we walk in an area with less of everything. We will continue to work with her on that but otherwise, she’s been such a good girl! We can’t understand why anyone would ever have wanted to get rid of her. <3

Sumo is wondering where Princess Sachi went. He feels bad for being late to the prom since the pack had to prepare for the Parade that is happening tomorrow. He hopes Sachi was able to have a good time at the prom wif the rest of the Shibas and friends. #ShibaKisses

Sofi’s Update

Sofi is settling in to her new home nicely. The Vet checked her out and she is healthy aside from a luxating patella which they said it is not something we need to really worry about right now. Sumo used to have a luxating patella and his most recent check up showed he was normal. However, he does still have a faint heart murmur which I will continue to monitor strictly. Otherwise, both Sofi and Sumo are up to date on all of their shots and we won’t have to go back for another 6-12 months.

As each day goes by, we are learning more and more things about this sweet girl. For example, she paces around the kitchen area, does a little footsy dance and whimpers when I am scooping her food on to the plate. She loves to nibble on things and we have caught her doing it on the corner of our pillow cases but we quickly corrected her so that she only noms on her own toys. She is great at fetching and knows to bring it back and drop the toy. She likes to bring her toys to bed with us and sleep with them nearby. Sofi is also extremely affectionate and is content being scratched all day long. Not to mention, she snuggles! She always has to have a paw on one of us when she’s sleeping and often times, she will lay her head on our chest and cuddle with us to sleep. Sumo loves her and I can tell she is quite smitten with him as well. We are so happy to have her a part of our pack! <3

Here is a photo of them relaxing on our bed together… Sumo sleeping soundly nearby.

New Harness!

Sofi’s harness finally arrived! The shelter mentioned that she has escaped her harness before and being the paranoid Mom that I am, I have equipped the little one with the following:

1. EzyDog Quick Fit Harness in Pink Camo

2. Sporn Double Dog Leash in Black (One is attached to the harness and one is attached to the collar so if one fails, the other still has hold of the pup.)

3. Some Martingale Collar in Pink

4. Sporn Halter Replacement Sherpa Sleeves (For added comfort on the bottom of the harness.)

Sofi loves it! She is still getting used to all the people and noise in the city but definitely loves going to parks, taking long walks by the pier, sniffing around the neighborhood, and running along the Hudson River.

Just Too Much…

Cuteness. How am I suppose to be productive on my day off when I have this face staring at me all the time? She snuggles right up to me and puts one of her paws on me to make sure that I’m not going to sneak off without her knowing. Sigh, <3

Sumo + Sofi

Today, we went on a 3 hour walk with our friend Gloria and her furkids, Amie and Tomo.

Sofi did very well on the walk. She is starting to come out of her shell a little bit. She let out a small bark today, is playing with toys, exploring the apartment more, and scratching her bed. Sumo loves her and tries his best to get her to play with him. They have even started eating their food in their own bowls which thanks to their Auntie Gloria, they absolutely love! Tomorrow, I may go running with Sofi and will definitely take more photos! :)
